Peter Calthorpe was recently interviewed by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) about the China State Council’s February 2016 unveiling of a set of standards that he described as an “urban design revolution.” The guidelines upend the status quo by calling for cities that are more walkable with access to public transportation, open green spaces, and housing that is more energy efficient and built to last.
